The Norwegian National Championship in Indoor Bandy for prison employees was held at Norway's College of Physical Education in Oslo during the weekend of 16th and 17th February.  20 teams participated altogether, and the final turned out to be a local derby between Oslo and Ullersmo (a prison just 50 km north of Oslo). Our team from Oslo Prison won.

Oslo Prison impressed everyone with a faultless arrangement, but the prison also proved impressive on the pitch. The first team won the final by 4-1 against Ullersmo, after goals by Willy Fauskanger (2), Kenneth Sollied and Marit Høvik. The second team took an impressive 4th place after a narrow 0-1 loss to Trøgstad in the bronze final.

National Team Captain
After playing the last two championship matches for the Norwegian Correctional Services ('KRUS'), the captain of the Norwegian National Indoor Bandy team and also Greåker's Indoor Bandy team, Willy Fauskanger, was finally ready for Oslo. And this gave immediate results! Our first team won all of its matches offering good player performance all-round. -I am very pleased we managed to win gold position. It's always fun to win, says Fauskanger, who only got better and better as the championship progressed. Not surprisingly he was selected best player of the championship.

Twice champion
Team captain Kenneth Sollied and defender Nils Rødseth were the team's only remaining players from the Oslo Prison team that last struck gold at the National Championship in 2001. Other members of this year's team were: Kenneth Guldberg, Magnus Haugli, André Almløv, Lene Kopstad, Marit Høvik and Camilla Hansen.
-This was a great bunch to play with. There weren't many of us, just enough. Besides, it was of course an honour to play alongside Willy. We can all learn a lot from him, comments Kenneth Sollied, team captain.

Voluntary team effort
The arrangement itself was faultless. Our helpers at the kiosk, the secretariat, our first-aid staff and referees all did a fantastic job. Prison Director Are Høidahl and Regional Director Ellinor Houm hosted the championship, holding the opening speech and handing over the prizes respectively.
-I am very pleased sport-wise and socially. There have been very few injuries and everything has gone according to plan. Everyone who has contributed to the success of this event has worked tremendously hard with very few complaints, concludes Erlend Wærum, Chairman of the Arrangement Committee.

Best man: National team captain, Willy Fauskanger, was the championship's best player by far, deservedly winning acknowledgment for this.

Oslo's second team took an impressive 4th place in the champioship and team captain, Emil Hammervold, proudly collected the award.
